15,800 Bulbs Planted in the Concourse Lake Native Plant Park

The photos below feature the children from the Discovery School, parents, friends, member of the State Representative's office of Philadelphia and members of the 10 gardens clubs comprising the Philadelphia Committee of the Garden Club of America who planted bulbs all around Concourse Lake. Due to the organization of this activity by Sham Knight and her committee, over 15,800 daffodil and scilla bulbs were planted by 175 community and garden club members in less than two hours! These bulbs were given in the memory of Helen Edwards by her family. This was accomplished with lots of prior planning, advanced preparation of the planting beds and mixing bulbs, a truck to haul 989 pounds of bulbs, a team leader from each garden club and all the amazing volunteers!!
